mostly on films + books
back to homeunfortunately i expected better. it felt too on the nose and unbelivably obvious, everything was spelt out to the audience. nevertheless, incredibly funny and robert pattinson was great
watched at the bfi as always. i think i was a little disappointed because i had high expectations considering all the love for the film. i think it was very beautiful and i always love films that tell that narrative of intertwining stories (defo not the right phrase but you know what i mean). i think my biggest struggle with it was the bfi chairs being unbelivably uncomfortable and so i kept moving around like a toddler the whole time. nevertheless i think it just was missing something for me, i don't like that the end was quite stagnant - it felt like these huge events had no effect on anyone but yang yang. overall i would recommend but i'd say watch it in a place with better chairs - perhaps the vue islington.
rewatched for emily's birthday! i love to watch perks every birthday/whenever i can, it is so beautiful and such an important film in my life. i remember watching it for the first time when i was 10 with my mum, i'd never seen a film that encapsulated the way i felt, it was so key in my brain development. watching it led me to listen to cocteau twins and develop a good taste in music and for that i will be forever grateful.
watched this at the bfi and it was sooooo good like too good. it was ridiculously funny and a new fav. time to obsessively watch all of almodovar's films.
